brighton ghost stories

I went on a ghost tour/walk around Brighton last month, here are the bits i remember:

Brighton Town hall used to be police station, the constable was murdered by fire poker by henry soloman who was hung in horsham. Crowd touched his dead hand for good luck.

There is a ghost called the 'Grey lady', who walks up and down meeting house lane, she was bricked up alive in old flint wall.

The Cricketers, Black lion street is an old coaching inn. Where Jack the ripper used to frequent before travelling to London. Upstairs is the "Jack the Ripper' room, free to enter and view local history on this, just ask.

St Nichols Church, Brighton - Every 17th may from the graveyard if you look out to the horizon of the sea, a ghost ship can be seen. Martha gunn, phoebe hesler are all buried at st nicholas church, oldest in brighton.

Catacombs under Brighthelm centre, took 6 years to clear over 800 skeletons including 378 babies. Moved to brighton cemetery. The Brighthelm before this dicovery in 1982 was band practice room for punks..

Canoeing on placid water

Open canoeing is as mellow as travelling can be.

There is something instinctive about using a paddle: when you strike a good rhythm and the blade slips silently thru the water, it becomes meditative.

Celebrate Failure!

If you fail, celebrate that you have learnt from it!

Then do it better the next time.

Midsummers Night Dream

Ive had many years chasing the sun into the west country to have a midsummers night.

Glastonbury mostly with a van to retreat to, after launching ourselves at the Tor for a good evenings drinking cider and listening/participating in drum circles and other hippy ways.

The footpath from maidencroft up to the Tor is called the Paradise Way, and thats exactly how it feels with a warm feeling inside and the glow on the sun on your skin.

This year im in Brighton, which is great! I have been working at home today, and i turned around for a break from the screen where i got that glow from the sun coming thru the window that i mention. I got deja vu and had to write about it.

Peace

Dalai Lama - Instructions for Life

  1. Take into account that great love & great achievements involve great risk.
  2. When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
  3. Follow the three R's:Respect for self, Respect for others, and Responsibility for all your actions.
  4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
  5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
  6. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
  7. When you realise you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
  8. Spend some time alone every day.
  9. Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.
  10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
  11. Live a good, honourable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll be able to enjoy it a second time.
  12. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.
  13. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don't bring up the past.
  14. Share your knowledge. It's a way to achieve immortality.
  15. Once a year, go someplace you've never been before.
  16. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
  17. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.
  18. Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon

Boscastle

there is a Cornish harbour town called Boscastle there is a stream thats reaches the ocean the fish & birds on a natural rhythm to the cycle of each day. And myself absorbing from what I have seen. Slowly realising the true force of nature.

When im in the countryside I cant help admire evolution and the way factors around us work. Ancient plants that have seen more than just us humans. What stories or advice would they give us?... Maybe they will reàply one day when we speak to them!

Resigned

I think too much on things I want too much,
it makes me hatefull and I say stupid things.
only you can fill my black hole,
and im resigned to that.
I wish the sun could just keep me warm,
and im resigned to them.
I forget to breath some days,
I never start to think wh

ways to love summer

get out!

spend as much time as you can outside. fresh air and natural light can make all the difference to your mood and energy levels. when indoors leave curtains and windows open to let plenty of fresh air circulate.

let it be!

communing with nature, watching the world go by can bring lasting joy. try to spend some tie most days of the week enjoying what life has to offer for free.. you may be surprised to find wildlife on your doorstep.

be a kid!

let go of the adult in you and enjoy the sense of freedom and release that comes with forgetting your responsibilities for a while

go to the sea!

sea air is rich in negative ions, which counteract the effect of positive ions that circulate in the polluted city air, air con offices and badly ventilated rooms. negative ions help you breath more freely and may help you sleep better, as well as helping to reduce anxiety, restlessness and headaches.

take my hand

take my hand
we will walk, we will only walk
we will enjoy our walk
without thinking of arriving anywhere.
walk peacefully, walk happily
our walk is a peace walk
our walk is a happiness walk
nirvana = walking meditiation

as you begin to arrive with each step you become more solid.
as you become more solid, you become more free.
solidity and freedom are two aspects of nirvana, the state of liberation from craving, fear and anxiety

walking meditation poem - I have arrived

I have arrived
I am home
in the here, in the now
I am solid
I am free
In the ultimate
I dwell
The long road turns to joy, allow yourself to be,
every step helps you arrive deeply in the present moment.
You dont need anything else to touch real happiness.

Walking meditation is like eating. With each step, we nourish our body and spirit.
Just walk slowly and enjoy a banquet of peace.
